EBERLY is currently hiring full time Lead Host / Ma tre d'. Within Eberly you'll discover a beautiful dining room offering contemporary American cuisine, a welcoming study, a rooftop terrace overlooking downtown, and our crown jewel, the historic Cedar Tavern bar of Greenwich Village in New York City. We are a fine dining restaurant, but we are sure to create an atmosphere that invites and welcomes everyone. We have a good time taking service seriously. Compensation: 

This position receives a competitive hourly pay + tips. Paychecks are delivered weekly, and we are very flexible with scheduling. am/pm shifts available.

Health Insurance - Aetna Coverage, with Vision and Dental included. $100 monthly premium for qualifying full-time employees.

JOB PURPOSE:
The ideal Host is the personal representation of Eberly hospitality. They are the first thing people see when they walk in the door. They are warm, energetic, presentable, and friendly.

It is the responsibility of the Lead Host Person/Maitre D  to assist in supervising Food Servers, Back Servers, and Food Runners as it relates to guest contact and table information. Greets and seats guests and distributes business among Food Servers equally and as fairly as possible. Maintains order and cleanliness of workspace. Directs guest needs and concerns appropriately to management. All duties are performed in accordance with Eberly policies, practices, and procedures, as well as within the framework and intent of the Eberly Mission Statement.


QUALIFICATIONS: 

2-4 years of experience in host positions and fluency in reservations systems such as RESY and Open Table. Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing. Ability to perform a variety of duties with extreme care, concern, and attention to detail. Ability to communicate with supervisor, fellow employees, and guests. Ability to effectively listen, follow instructions, and adjust to changing conditions. Exhibits a pleasant personality and commitment to guest service. This is a tipped position.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:


Accurately capture and record guest information

Perform sidework and set-up duties as assigned

Greet guests entering Dining Room and seat them in gracious manner

Monitor guests that are seated in the Dining Room and immediately respond to guest's needs

Directs Food Servers, Back Servers, and Food Runners in their work procedures and performance and assists them in their tasks as it relates to billing, guest request or guest information

Maintain complete knowledge of entire menu and proper food handling presentation and service

Has a familiar working knowledge of beverage and service techniques

Arranges the opening reports

Checks all menus nightly for accuracy and print and maintain a working par of menus

Maintains reservation systems and informs management and staff with special guests requests

Establishes regular guest list and e-mails

Performs related duties as assigned

Assists in accepting reservations

Answers phone in hospitable manner

Maintain professional appearance as an ambassador of Eberly


Eberly is open to the public six days a week, Tuesday-Saturday 5-10pm and brunch Saturday and Sunday 10am-2pm. PM availability will be required 3-11pm. We look forward to meeting you! 

Compensation: $20.00 - $23.00 per hour
